I first was introduced to toca through Steve Settle, my friend and mentor whom I met at my internship at Schafer Condon Carter. toca was looking for someone to make a physical model of modular interior design structures they were designing for Herman Miller at their Headquarters in Zeeland, MI. Once my model was built, we hung placeholder design elements on the structures and photographed it to illustrate how the structures would be used by employees for inspiration and exhibition. One of the ‘Knowledge nodes‘ as they were called, would be designated as a more permanent display. The focus of the first exhibit was Alexander Girard. I was given my first design assignment tracing a font Alexander Girard to create this poster.
MY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Construction of physical model
- Poster design using hand-traced vector art based on Girard’s previous works
- Planning + specs for print + installation
